Hello MikroTik community,
I am trying to set up CAPsMAN controller on my hAP ax lite (L41G-2axD) running RouterOS version 7.18.2.
My goal is to manage other CAP devices (including other hAP ax lite and hAP ac lite) from this router as the central CAPsMAN controller.
However, when I try to use any /caps-man command (for example, /caps-man security add name=test), I receive the error message:
bad command name caps-man (line 1 column 2)
I checked the installed packages using the /system package print command. The capsman package is not listed among the installed packages:
[admin@Router-Main] > /system package print
Flags: X - DISABLED
Columns: NAME, VERSION, BUILD-TIME, SIZE
# NAME VERSION BUILD-TIME SIZE
0 wifi-qcom 7.18.2 2025-03-11 11:59:04 9.5MiB
1 X wifi-qcom-ac 7.18.2 2025-03-11 11:59:04 2680.1KiB
2 routeros 7.18.2 2025-03-11 11:59:04 11.5MiB
3 X wireless 7.18.2 2025-03-11 11:59:04 1924.1KiB
I also confirmed this behavior on a brand new hAP ax lite running RouterOS 7.15.2 out of the box - the capsman package was also not present by default, and /caps-man commands did not work.
I have seen some online resources (guides and forum discussions, e.g., regarding ROS 7.13+) suggesting that the new CAPsMAN controller functionality should be part of the base routeros package from version 7.13 onwards. This seems to contradict my observations on versions 7.15.2 and 7.18.2.
Could someone please clarify the definitive method to obtain and enable the CAPsMAN controller functionality on a hAP ax lite (L41G-2axD) running RouterOS 7.18.2?
* Is the capsman package supposed to be included and enabled in the default factory installation or the standard update process for this device/version?
* If not included by default, is the correct and only procedure to manually download the separate capsman-7.18.2-arm64.npk file from the "Extra packages" archive and install it?
Any official information or confirmation from users who have successfully set up CAPsMAN controller on this specific device and RouterOS version would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and help!
