I'm a SOHO user that's been using the same Mikrotik device since 2016, over the years my needs and network configuration has changed (new APs, hotspot with VLANs, complex queue between home/office and across media device, ISP failover and load-balance, etc). My approach has been to add config, and if its working then its done and get back to work.
However, this made me accrue a lot of technical debts in overly complex and sometimes obscure config that I forget why it was there but if removed random things will break. A few days ago I add a new repeater and for the love of me I cannot make all packets from Src. Mac Addr properly separated and queued without breaking my existing config.
I'm sure its possible to do what I want to do on top of my existing config but I'm considering simplifying my config and reduce complexities as much as possible and have a proper documentation, however I cannot handle the downtime and I don't think messing with a running production router is a wise idea.
What are my option other than buying new device and starting from scratch? Have any of you got experience in fixing an overly complex config?
